Private Tutoring by Steve

Python Programming Tutor in Burleson, TX.

Steve is a private Python programming tutor in Burleson, TX and surrounding areas who teaches one-on-one Python lessons for middle school, high school, and college students, and also for adult learners. Beginners are welcome. Sessions start from the basics and build to real projects.

Python tutoring ability in Burleson and surrounding areas can be difficult to find, and it is one of the most fun parts of Steve's week.

Who is Python tutoring for?

  • Middle school and high school students. Curious about computer science (CS), taking an intro CS class, or building a project for a college application.
  • College students. Working through computer science coursework, a data science class, or a research project.
  • Adult learners. Building a new career skill, automating work tasks, or just learning to code from scratch.

What does Steve cover in Python lessons?

  1. Setup. Installing Python and a code editor, running your first script.
  2. Fundamentals. Variables, types, conditionals, loops, functions, and lists / Python dictionaries.
  3. Modular code. Files, modules, packages, and how to organize a small project.
  4. Real projects. Small games, simple data analysis, web scraping, basic automation.
  5. Extensions. Whatever the student is curious about: web back-ends, data science, machine learning fundamentals.

Is Python a good first programming language?

Yes. The syntax is clean and reads close to plain English, the standard library of reusable code is huge, and most tutorials online use it. That makes the "first-language" hump shorter than with C++, Java, or other computer programming languages. Most students who learn Python first pick up another language much faster later.

Python lessons work especially well online. See online tutoring for how that works.

Common Python questions

Can you teach Python to a complete beginner?
Yes, and beginners are Steve's favorite Python students. Lessons start from zero: what programming actually is, how to install Python on your computer, how to run your first script. From there it builds at your pace through variables, loops, functions, and small projects.
Is Python worth learning?
Yes. Python is one of the most-used programming languages in the world. It is the standard language for data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, is common in web back-ends, automation and scripting, and is increasingly common in scientific computing. It is also one of the friendliest languages to read and write, which is why so many computer science programs teach it first.
How long does it take to learn Python?
It depends on the goal. Most students who do one weekly Python tutoring session can write useful programs (basic scripts, simple games, simple data work) within one to three months, depending on whether they have any computer programming experience before starting lessons. Building a portfolio-quality project usually takes another few months on top of that.
Do I need a special computer?
No. Any reasonably recent laptop or desktop works. Steve helps you set up a free Python install and a free code editor in the first session. For online sessions, you also need a webcam.
